Meals with a Mission transitioned from cooking one night a week in a school cafeteria to the April 2013 opening of our current state-of-the art kitchen in Garfield where our 35 teams produce hundreds of meals at each shift.

Our 300+ volunteers are the foundation of the organization.  Divided into teams, they meet once monthly (day or evening) at the Garfield facility to cook, package, and clean. They are committed to the preparation of meals worthy of their own dining tables. Through the combined efforts of our cooking, lunch, and pantry teams, we now provide an average of 15,000 meals monthly.

We rely solely on the generosity of our supporters for food, packaging and cleaning supplies, and monetary gifts. Donors are our “Partners” in the fight against hunger, and on behalf of those who need us, we are never embarrassed to ask for help. While most of the food we prepare is donated, we still must supplement our supplies and meet basic overhead expenses.  See our donation page for specific information on what we need and how you can help.

Our Volunteers

Meals with a Mission is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, non-sectarian organization founded in December of 2010.  We are committed to serving the ever-increasing number of homeless and working poor in northern New Jersey. We prepare and distribute lunches and dinners to over 40 established agencies in surrounding counties.
